Design of a new generation of more environmentally friendly generator sets capable of operating with hydrogen - H2GEN
Project description
The H2GEN project is based on the development of more efficient, versatile, and environmentally friendly generator sets. To this end, the project will undertake the comprehensive development of a new generation of generator sets optimized to minimize greenhouse gas emissions and adapted to operate with hydrogen as fuel. For this purpose, a new design methodology based on advanced digitalization will be developed in all product stages, from conceptualization to monitoring the equipment's service life.
The expected outcome of the project is the development of a new generation of generator sets and an upgrade kit to adapt already operational generator sets, both with the capability to operate with Hydrogen as fuel and both with disruptive improvements to minimize GHG and noise emissions.
Aid for Industry 4.0 digitalization
File num: IG240.2023.1.87
This entity was a beneficiary of the Industry 4.0 digitalization aid call, co-financed by the European Union.
The main objective of these aids is to strengthen sustainable growth and the competitiveness of SMEs and job creation in them, also through productive investments.
The intended result is the implementation of digitalization projects aimed at implementing solutions for the digital support of a company's processes or for digital interconnection projects of processes between a Galician company and other companies or between two or more Galician companies.

IN421W. Renewable projects with MRR funds 2021-2024
Project title: Photovoltaic installation c/parish of rois B28, ind. park bergondo
Financing: Project included in the incentive program 1, 2, and 3 linked to self-consumption and storage in the service sector and other productive sectors, within the framework of the European recovery, transformation, and resilience plan, financed by the European Union – nextgenerationeu (procedure code en421w).

Improvement of energy efficiency and sustainability of wastewater treatment plants through the valorization of WWTP sludge
Execution period: 2022- 2025
Partners: FACSA, SMALLOPS, GENESAL, UVa AND AIMEN
Funding: Project CPP2021-008427 funded by MCIN/AEI /10.13039/501100011033 and by the European Union NextGenerationEU/ PRTR
Project description
The ENEDAR project arises from the need to transform wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) into energy-efficient and resilient infrastructures through the development of technologies that maximize the performance of anaerobic digestion (AD) of WWTP sludge, and obtain value-added products (energy and biofertilizers) profitably, ensuring the sustainability of the water sector in a context of economic crisis and climate emergency.
The project includes a laboratory phase to determine the operating conditions that will later be carried out on a pilot scale. The processes ENEDAR focuses on are anaerobic digestion, biogas cleaning, and digestate treatment wetlands (HTD) by developing and employing innovative materials and processes: Fe nanoparticles encapsulated in carbon (OPS), photoacoustic sensors of volatile fatty acids (VFA) and CH4, and cost-efficient physicochemical processes for biogas cleaning. Additionally, a cost-efficient cogeneration system will be implemented for the energy utilization of the produced biogas and biomethane. The pilot will consist of:
- An anaerobic digester operated with OPS and a photoacoustic sensor of VFA and CH4 to control potential inhibitions due to VFA accumulation and CH4 reduction in the biogas in real-time.
- A cost-efficient physicochemical biogas cleaning process for the simultaneous removal of CO2 and H2S, obtaining biomethane with a composition of CH4 > 95%, CO2 < 2%, and elemental sulfur as a by-product.
- A nature-based solution for the stabilization (mineralization of volatile matter and dehydration) of AD digestate consisting of an HTD to obtain a mineralized and 50% dehydrated biosolid.
- An energy utilization system for biogas and biomethane (85% efficiency) that contributes to improving the resilience and energy efficiency of the WWTP, reducing the normalized cost of electricity and heat production by compensating for biomethane production.
- In addition to the operation and optimization of the innovative WWTP sludge valorization pilot, the ENEDAR project will obtain a biofertilizer formulation protocol from the biosolid obtained in the HTD, testing its agronomic capabilities.

Strategic research and development project
File: EXP 00099106 / IDI-20170134
Co-financed project
Strategic development and innovation in technologies, advanced processes, and products for sustainable manufacturing of generator sets. The objective pursued by GENESAL ENERGY is the implementation of an intelligent factory with greater adaptability to needs and production processes, as well as a more efficient allocation of resources, leading to significant improvements in both production processes and products. Therefore, rather than developing a specific process or product, this project is conceived as a set of strategic actions to analyze and implement various technologies and methodologies concerning products and processes.
This project, co-financed by the CENTER FOR INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT (CDTI) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), will be developed at its facilities in the Bergondo Industrial Park, with a budget of €2,058,562.00, and will be carried out from March 2017 to March 2023.
