Innovation and energy transition, our great challenges for 2023

21 Enero - 2026

Sustainability is not new at Genesal Energy. When almost no one in the industrial sector was thinking about this concept and doing so was considered a passing trend, our company took it seriously by working on a detailed action plan aimed at achieving the greatest energy efficiency in all projects bearing our stamp. This commitment to clean energy and the environment has moved from theory to practice and has largely made it possible for us to say goodbye to 2022 with our tasks completed.

Thus, we have numerous completed projects and the launch of initiatives such as the Chair of Energy Transition, the first of its kind in Galicia created in collaboration with the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC).

Chair of energy transition

The year 2022 marked the beginning of a wonderful adventure full of possibilities. In less than a year, the newly created Chair has awarded its first prizes for the best Bachelor's Final Projects (TFG) and Master's Final Projects (TFM), categories that from now on and annually will distinguish students who excel in the study of topics on energy transition and sustainability.

For 2023, the challenges are numerous and the environmental guidelines are precise because our intention is to maintain the path of 2022 and achieve the best possible results. Thus, we will strengthen our commitment to the 2030 Agenda and also the execution of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through new processes of identification and prioritization of those most relevant to the company and that are already an inseparable part of our business strategy.

Energy Transition Plan

It will also be the year in which we will promote our Energy Transition Plan, both at a corporate and productive and sectoral level, because we are convinced that the fight against climate change is a long-distance race, a moral obligation, and we believe that words are not enough: to change, we must act.

Therefore, throughout 2023 we will continue researching and developing sustainable and increasingly efficient solutions not only for our clients but also by applying it to our own company.

In this regard, among the most immediate projects is the commissioning at our headquarters in Bergondo, A Coruña, of the first comprehensive photovoltaic facade in Galicia. It will begin to be 100% operational at the beginning of the year and is just an example of what we wish to do in the medium and long term.

In our crusade for sustainability and energy transition, in 2022 we took a further step and moved into action with concrete initiatives focused on Greenesal, a thoughtful, planned, and ambitious program designed to make a difference from a sustainability perspective. We trust that 2023 will be its year.

Reducing the Carbon Footprint in all our facilities, holding courses, seminars, and workshops, and promoting public-private collaboration to drive R&D&I projects are part of a long list of initiatives planned by Genesal Energy for the next 12 months.

Data centers and healthcare sector

Proactivity is one of the company's maxims to obtain unique, quality, personalized energy that is as respectful as possible with the planet. The development of projects for two green hydrogen plants, the design and manufacture of a generator set for a large recycling plant that aims to be a benchmark in Spain, or the equipment designed to ensure the power supply in the new Madrid Mint and Stamp Factory are part of the solutions developed in 2022 by our engineering area. All are included in the range of customized Genesal Energy generator sets where we control and supervise the entire process, from minute one to the subsequent maintenance service. It is, without a doubt, one of our added values and a mark of distinction that we will continue to enhance.

In Genesal Energy's roadmap for the new year, sectors with great growth prospects at the energy level, such as data centers, everything related to renewable energies, and the development of energy solutions in fields such as healthcare or in a strategic area like Defense, have great prominence.

Likewise, in the continuous search for competitive advantage, the Distributed Energy Technology Center (CETED) will continue to be an essential piece for manufacturing quality generator sets, both for sale and rental, a range with a great future and an increasingly important asset in our subsidiaries in Mexico and Peru.

The manufacture of customized generator sets, essential for all installations and infrastructures related to communication and transportation, will also be a priority, as well as all those projects aimed at promoting clean energies.

And, of course, in a company that was born almost 30 years ago with the dream of consolidating itself in the foreign market, international projection and the search for new markets will be top priorities in the new fiscal year where sustainability and energy transition will be the great challenges.
